Find Your Colour: Red

Red can be bright or dark - - - a pair of red curtains can add weight to a scheme or ground a very light one. It’s the perfect accent colour against white walls like Farrow & Ball’s Wimbourne White or Cornforth White. Not ready to go too bold? Pair with warm neutrals to soften the look. Or if maximalism is your thing, go all out and pair bright reds with other primary colours for a fun, colour-blocking interior.

In homes, red can give off a richness and sense of luxury. It’s a great choice for dining rooms where the colour is enhanced by flickering candle light and perhaps best as a muted tone in places of rest, such as bedrooms, as it is such a stimulating colour. If bright red feels a bit daunting to add into your home, try a more muted hue with pink undertones, or a deeper more grown-up colour with dark purple undertones.
