Get the mood
How we dress our bedrooms is as important as the structure of the space itself. If you have an amazing space with beautiful windows or a spectacular view, think about how to frame that as a feature within the room. Highlight a beautiful view with colourful floor-length curtains, make the bed a scene stealer and opt for a patterned or ornately shaped headboard. Use texture and layering for the bed with soft fabrics like boucle, wool and velvet, layer it up with chunky throws, soft blankets and sumptuous cushions that you can sink back into.
Also think about how to keep the space clean and tidy. Having a clear and clean space makes for a clean and tidy mind. You should be able to relax in your bedroom without fear of a dirty coffee cup or piles of washing, so think about this when planning your space. Make sure there is a space for everything - - - can the wash basket be relocated to the bathroom, is there any decluttering you can do? It is not just how a space looks, it is how it feels and smells too. Think of what your senses need to relax and unwind and indulge them. Scented candles, pillow sprays and essential oil diffusers can help to create an air of calm and subtly introduce restful aromas into the room to aid rest and relaxation.
